INR was present in Évora and Reguengos de Monsaraz in two initiatives

On April 9 and 10, the President of the National Institute for Rehabilitation, I.P., Dr. Sónia Esperto, participated in two separate initiatives, which highlighted key issues such as equal opportunities, independent living, the rights of persons with disabilities and accessibility in the territory.

On April 9, at the invitation of the Center for Support to Independent Life (CAVI) of APPACDM of Évora, was present at the Closing Session of the Seminar "Portrait of Women with Disabilities: Perspectives and Challenges". In her speech, the President of the INR stressed the importance of creating healthy and inclusive social contexts, reinforcing the need to promote universal accessibility, independent living and the humanization of social interactions. It also reaffirmed the Institute's commitment to supporting projects that stimulate engagement, dialogue and critical reflection on the rights of women with disabilities.

On April 10, he joined the panel of speakers of the IV Iberian Blue Flag Congress in Inland Beaches, which took place in Reguengos de Monsaraz. Under the theme “Evolution and Accessibility Challenges in Inland Beaches in Portugal”, the President's intervention focused on the importance of ensuring that bathing areas – coastal or inland – are accessible to all, with or without disabilities. The role of the programme was highlighted. “Accessible Beach, Beach for All!”, coordinated by the INR in partnership with the Portuguese Environment Agency and Turismo de Portugal, and which for 20 years has been promoting inclusive access to Portuguese beaches. Data were also presented on the positive evolution of the awarded inland beaches and addressed the current challenges, namely in terms of infrastructure, access, available information and support to users.

These participations reinforce the role of the INR as an active actor in promoting inclusive public policies that value diversity and ensure the rights of persons with disabilities in their daily lives.
