It is a solidarity initiative, initiated in 1987, for the rights of people with intellectual disabilities and/or multi-disability. In 2025, its motto is ‘The light that embraces difference’. It starts on May 9th and lasts until June 1st.

During this period, hundreds of professionals, volunteers and people supported by the 84 member organizations will participate, from north to south of Portugal, in awareness-raising activities and appeal to the solidarity of the Portuguese towards the cause of inclusion.

Each Magic Firefly will cost 2.50 euros and the proceeds will go to social solidarity cooperatives (CERCI) and other organizations that provide support services to thousands of children, young people and adults.
