INR participated in the 1st Technical Meeting of the G20 Working Group on Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities

The INR, I.P. participated in the 1st Technical Meeting of the G20 Working Group on the Inclusion of People with Disabilities, organized by the Government of South Africa that currently assumes the presidency of the G20, an online event that took place from 26 to 27 June 2025, in the Department of International Relations and Cooperation in Pretoria, Gauteng Province, South Africa.

The main objective of this meeting was the proposal by the Government of the Republic of South Africa, represented by the Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, to establish a G20 Working Group on Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities.

The WG aims to provide a dynamic platform of good practices among G20 members to enable their engagement on critical issues on the empowerment of persons with disabilities, with a particular focus on women and young people with disabilities.

The objectives of the WG are to ensure that G20 countries accelerate the implementation of existing commitments, principles, objectives and actions set out in the various international instruments on inclusion and rights of persons with disabilities, such as those proclaimed in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as in the regional instruments specific to each of the G20 member countries.

The work of the two days was developed around the discussion of the future functioning of the Working Group. three key priorities, a Promotion of New Technologies and Access to Artificial Intelligence, a Universal Accessibility and Independent Living, and a Dignity of Life, Dimension of Services and Considerations on Inclusion as a priority theme of all Policy Agendas.
