On 16 June at 2.30 p.m., the ceremony to raise the flag of the Accessible Beach Programme, Praia para Todos!, took place at Praia da fraga da Pegada, in Macedo de Cavaleiros, and the 1º Prize of the 2025 “Praia + Accessible” Award was also awarded, in the typology of Inner Beach.

This event was the result of a partnership between the Institute for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, I.P., the Portuguese Environment Agency, I.P., Turismo de Portugal, I.P. and the Municipality of Macedo de Cavaleiros.

This session symbolically marks the commitment of the municipality and the entities involved with the promotion of beach accessibility and inclusion, publicly acknowledging the effort made to ensure that all people, regardless of their condition, can enjoy the beaches with equity, comfort, autonomy and dignity.

The ceremony was attended by the President of the host municipality – Sérgio David Ramos Borges, Macedo de Cavaleiros City Council –, the President of the Board of Directors of the Institute for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, I.P., Sónia Esperto, representatives of the company IACESS, official sponsor of the “Praia + Accessible” Award, as well as local entities involved in promoting beach accessibility.
