International Angelman Day | FEB 15

On February 15, the International Angelman Syndrome Day, with the movement of the lighting of the buildings in blue.

This year, all international Angelman associations will use the same means and elements of communication to show their unity and determination in disseminating and raising awareness of this rare disease.

In Portugal, ANGEL – Associação de Synndrome de Angelman de Portugal joins this initiative that will give blue colour to monuments in several cities. The municipalities of Leiria, Arraiolos, Montemor-o-Novo, Portel and Évora, join ANGEL and will illuminate Castles and other monuments in blue, on February 15.

It is important to make known and promote greater visibility on the symptoms associated with this rare disease, so that there is a faster diagnosis and, as a result, a correct and more immediate treatment approach of each case.

Several clinical trials are currently underway around the world with the aim of better understanding Angelman syndrome, treating some of its symptoms or even trying to reverse the causes of the disease.

The celebration of International Angelman Syndrome Day intends to join Portugal to the international alliance of Associations, thus demonstrating its work developed over the years.
