Reinforcement Plan to Prevent and Combat Domestic Violence - #I Survived Campaign

Updated : 09/06/2021

On the face of a middle-aged woman it is written: It's happening... he's being violent... I need help.

As of today, a new plan is launched to strengthen the prevention and fight against domestic violence, which also includes the relaunch of the campaign #I Survived.

Last year, the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (CIG) launched the national campaign #I Survived, with the aim of strengthening vigilance against domestic violence and the negative impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to those who are victims of this crime.

A ‘More Equal Portugal’ is the motto implicit in the ‘National Strategy for Equality and Non-Discrimination 2018-2030’. The Action Plan on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence is one such vector of action.

The current health situation is still far from under control. In view of the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and also the fact that we are entering a period of school and work holidays, it is more crucial than ever to expand and amplify support mechanisms for victims of domestic violence.

The National Support Network for Victims of Domestic Violence is functioning. If you need help or are aware of any domestic violence situation, please send a message to SMS 3060 or call 800 202 148. It's a free line, it works 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Domestic violence is a public crime and reporting is a collective responsibility.
