The CAVI-Centre of the CVI, is a project that is under the purview of the Centro de Vida Independente Association, along with three other CAVI. Initially based in the municipality of Óbidos, in April 2020 transferred its location to the city of Rio Maior, in the premises of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of this locality. It develops its activity in municipalities of the districts of Leiria, Coimbra, Lisbon and Santarém, having a very wide territorial scope.

It started its activity in March 2019, supporting 18 people by hiring 23 Personal Assistants. Currently, CAVI Centro do CVI provides personal assistance to 24 people, mostly with changes in motor functions (12), with an average weekly support of 40 hours provided by 33 personal assistants. The Technical Team of this CAVI consists of a Sociologist (Coordinator) and two Higher Techniques of Social Work, which guarantee the management, coordination and monitoring of the operation of the Project, according to the principles enshrined in the Support Model for Independent Living.
