Call for written submissions related to the General Discussion Day organised by the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on Article 11 of the Convention

On the occasion of the 28th session, scheduled to take place in Geneva from 6 to 24 March 2023, the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities will hold a general discussion day focusing on persons with disabilities in situations of risk and humanitarian emergencies. The general discussion day will be organised by the OHCHR.

The purpose of this General Discussion Day is to prepare the preparation by the Committee of a general commentary on persons with disabilities in situations of risk and humanitarian emergencies. This general commentary is intended to clarify the obligations of the State Party under Article 11 of the Convention, and to provide recommendations to States Parties to the Convention on the measures they should take to ensure full compliance with their obligations to respect, protect and fulfil the human rights of persons with disabilities.

The general discussion day will include segments for specific geographic regions to engage with various stakeholders, considering time zones and facilitating face-to-face and online participation. The time and date of the different segments will be announced closer to the session.
