A bathing area was awarded in 2023 by the Accessible Beach – Beach for All! programme, whose application was evidenced by best practices, both in terms of the quality of the accessibility conditions and support available to people with restricted mobility, and the innovative nature of the solutions adopted to prevent discrimination against these citizens and increase their degree of satisfaction with the conditions of use provided there. Two Good Practice Mentions were also awarded to Praia Verde, Municipality of Póvoa de Varzim, and Praia do Ouro, Municipality of Sesimbra, for the support projects they develop, together with other institutions, respectively “IN Póvoa – Praia para Todos” and “All and One”, for the work shown in improving accessibility conditions.

The National Jury of the Prize – composed of representatives of the National Institute for Rehabilitation, which chairs, the Portuguese Environment Agency, Tourism of Portugal, the Directorate-General of the Maritime Authority / Shipwreck Rescue Institute, the Blue Flag Association for Environment and Education and the sponsor of the Prize, this year the company IACESS, Lda. – decided unanimously to give the following classification:

•1st Prize – Praia da Foz do Lizandro, Municipality of Mafra

•Mention of Good Practices - Praia Verde, of the Municipality of Póvoa de Varzim

•Mention of Good Practices - Praia do Ouro, from the Municipality of Sesimbra
