European Report on Independent Living and Inclusion

ANED (Academic Network of European Disability Experts) has just published a report analysing Europe's situation in protecting and guaranteeing the rights of persons with disabilities, with a focus on independent living and inclusion, in 35 states.

According to a common research model, each national study collected data on:

  • Current situation and trends in support for children and adults with disabilities, taking into account their life situation;
  • Trends in the balance of institutional care expenditure versus community-based support;
  • Commitments, targets and approaches;
  • relevant projects and initiatives;
  • Financial commitments for the transition from institutional response to independent living;
  • monitoring and measurement;
  • Involvement of persons with disabilities;
  • Impact and results.
