Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

The 12th session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 11 to 13 June.
Article 40 of the Convention provides that the States Parties shall meet regularly in a Conference to consider any matter relating to the application of the Convention.
The theme of the 12th session of the Conference of States Parties is “Ensuring the inclusion of persons with disabilities in a changing world through the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.” The Conference also foresees three round tables on the following topics:
- Technology, digitalisation and ICT for the empowerment and inclusion of persons with disabilities;
- Social inclusion and the right to the highest standards in health care;
- Inclusion of persons with disabilities in society through participation in cultural life, recreation, leisure and sport.
On 10 June, the Civil Society Forum will be held, a complementary event to the conference that aims to give a voice to people with disabilities and their organisations.
The Secretary of State for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities, Ana Sofia Antunes, will represent Portugal at the 12th session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
