European Accessibility Act

On 7 June, Directive (EU) 2019/882 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 April 2019 on the accessibility requirements for goods and services was published in the Official Journal of the EU (OJEU).

This Directive aims to contribute to the proper functioning of the internal market by approximating the laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the Member States as regards the accessibility requirements for certain products and services.

This Directive shall apply to the following products placed on the market:

General purpose consumer computer equipment and operating systems for such computer equipment;

b) The following self-service terminals:

(i) payment terminals;

ii) The following self-service terminals intended for the provision of services covered by this Directive:

- automated teller machines,

- ticketing machines,

- automatic check-in machines,

- interactive self-service terminals providing information, excluding machines installed as an integral part of vehicles, aircraft, ships or rolling stock;

c) Terminal equipment with interactive computing capabilities for the use of consumers, used for electronic communications services;

d) Terminal equipment with interactive computing capabilities for the use of consumers, used to access audiovisual media services;

and;

e) E-book readers.

Other persons who have functional limitations, such as persons, will benefit from this Directive. elderly people, pregnant women or people travelling with luggage.
