National Mechanism for Monitoring the Implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

Today, September 2nd, a Law No 71/ 2019, which defines the legal framework of the National Mechanism for Monitoring the Implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

This mechanism is an independent national body operating under the auspices of the Assembly of the Republic for the promotion, protection and monitoring of the said Convention, as provided for in Article 33(2).States Parties shall ... appoint or establish, internally, a structure including one or more independent mechanisms, as appropriate, with a view to promoting, protecting and monitoring the implementation of this Convention.”

Until the new members appointed under this Law take office, the members appointed under the Resolution of the Council of Ministers No 68/2014, 21 November.

10 years ago, Portugal, on July 30, 2009, approved the Convention, through the Resolution of the Assembly of the Republic No 56/2009.
