Applications for the Luís Clara Prize

A Association of Families and Friends of the Deaf (AFAS) is honored to announce the creation of a very special and unprecedented prize in our history: o Luís Clara Prize.
This award honors Luís Carlos Pinto Clara, founding associate No. 1 of AFAS, who played a key role in defending the Portuguese Sign Language (LGP) and bilingual education for deaf people. Luís Clara, grandfather of a young deaf man, was president of the board of AFAS from its foundation, on July 22, 1997, until March 19, 2011, and became Honorary Associate on November 5, 2011. He was born on June 1, 1934 and died on October 29, 2015.
This award aims to recognize and value significant contributions to the promotion of PML, inclusion and the rights of deaf people in Portugal. The ceremony of delivery of the Luís Clara Prize It is planned for the 17 October 2025, a symbolic moment of celebration of our community.
Information on the Luís Clara Prize is already available at Portuguese Sign Language (LGP), on the official page of the prize on the website the AFAS, as well as in netssocial the Association and in our official blog. We have already provided some content with voice-off e Portuguese translation.
We invite all institutions, media and public entities to share and disseminate this initiative, contributing to greater recognition and appreciation of the PML, officially recognised in the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic.

Meeting "Learning Communities for Educational Inclusion"

The Learning Communities for Educational Inclusion Meeting will take place at IE-ULisboa, an initiative promoted by the LC4Inclusion and CATIE projects, with the aim of sharing and discussing the main results obtained during the research carried out between 2020 and 2025.
This meeting will involve researchers, teachers and institutional partners, integrating conferences, discussion panels and moments of collaborative reflection on inclusive practices in school contexts.
This meeting is certified as a short training of 6 hours (Article 3 of Order No 5741/2015 of 29 May 2015). More information can be found at: www.ie.ulisboa.pt

Training “Autism and Inclusion in School Context”

On 16 and 17 June, the ‘Autism and Inclusion in School Context’ training will be held online as part of the Child Inclusion 360o project, funded by INR I.P. – National Institute for Rehabilitation.
Aimed at technicians, educators and operational assistants, this training aims to train professionals of leisure responses to promote the inclusion of all children, with and without disabilities.
The Child Inclusion 360o project aims to include autistic children and young people (ages 6 to 18) in community settings such as extracurricular activities, AEC, holiday clubs, mentoring centres, sports and cultural associations, among others.
This is a unique opportunity to transform practices and create more inclusive and accessible environments for all children!
