INEM and INR in a webinar to promote a better “Approach to the Visually Impaired in the Pre-Hospital Context”

The National Institute for Medical Emergency (INEM), in collaboration with the National Institute for Rehabilitation (INR), held a webinar dedicated to ‘Approaching the Visually Impaired: pre-hospital best practices” which took place on 15 October, marking World White Bengal Day.
This webinar, addressed to INEM professionals, as well as to all elements of the Integrated Medical Emergency System (SIEM) and other health professionals, was promoted by Dr. Aguilera. Patrícia Santos of the INR with the collaboration of Dr. João Luis Nunes and Nurse Artur Batuca of the INEM Team and, aimed to promote knowledge about visual impairment, in order to improve the professional practice of emergency medical technicians. To this end, topics were addressed such as the deconstruction of myths and preconceived ideas about visual impairment, accessible communication, guide techniques for a correct follow-up, follow-up of people accompanied by guide dogs, among other relevant topics.
This webinar was attended by emergency medical technicians, firefighters, psychologists, professionals from hospitals and health centers, among other professionals who intervene in pre-hospital and hospital contexts.
