INR highlights commitment to inclusion in the VI International Seminar on Innovating Autism

The National Institute for Rehabilitation (INR, I.P.) attended the VI International Seminar on Innovating Autism, held last Friday, 7 February, in the Auditorium of the School of Education - ESE, Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal.
The event, organized by the Autism Innovation Association, brought together national and international experts, families and representatives of institutions to discuss scientific advances, inclusive practices and challenges in the field of autism
In the morning, Helena Alexandre, Director of Services of the Training and Development Research Unit of INR, I.P., moderated a round table on the European project Self-Determination & Inclusion by Theather, with the participation of representatives of Inovar Autism, Autism Seville, Variously (Italy), Teatro da Vila and the Center for Disability Studies of ISCTE.
This project, funded by the program Erasmus+, KA220-ADU , aims to promote the self-determination and inclusion of young people and adults with autism through theater, empowering actors, actresses, collaborators and collaborators of theatrical groups for the integration of people with autism in their artistic activities. It includes specialised training for professionals, ensuring that inclusive practices are adopted at all stages of cultural productions.
In the closing speech of this seminar, Sónia Esperto, President of the Board of Directors of INR, I.P., welcomed and highlighted the participation of many families and professionals, highlighting the importance of holding this event in the construction of a society that not only includes, but values and understands diversity.
On the occasion, Sónia Esperto also reaffirmed the commitment of the INR, I.P. on the front line in the promotion and defense of the rights of persons with disabilities.
The closing of this event also featured the interventions of Eduardo Pizarro, President of the Portuguese Autism Federation, and Ana Albuquerque Nogueira, President of Inovar Autism.
