1st CAVI Meeting in the territories – Lisbon and Tagus Valley Region and Santarém

The National Coordinating Entity of the Support Model for Independent Living (MAVI), in a process of building a closer relationship with the implemented CAVI, began the first working meetings, where in addition to a space for the presentation of each entity, a collaborative environment was promoted for the sharing of experiences, challenges and good practices, taking into account the consolidation of MAVI as an instrument of autonomy and independence, when oriented to the people who can best enjoy the support in personal assistance.

On the day On 26 February, the ‘I CAVI Meeting in the territories’ was held with the entities of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo and Santarém., in the auditorium Orlando Monteiro, in the premises of the INR, was attended by the District Social Security Centres of Lisbon, Setúbal and Santarém and all CAVI of these regions: ACAPO- Lisboa, Associação CVI - Lisboa, APCAS, Alma Sã, APPACDM de Setúbal, Innovate Autism, CERE and Associação CVI – Centro.

At the opening of the event, the President of the Board of Directors of the INR, I.P. and the National Coordinating Body of MAVI thanked everyone for their presence. She shared that she considered it important to focus on the younger population and that each entity should reflect on what their contributions could be.

The elements of the Multidisciplinary Team, Fernanda Sousa and Irene Martins, presented the information by district, in order to stimulate reflection among all participants. New monitoring indicators were presented and CAVIs were consulted on a proposal for technical guidance.

This meeting highlighted the importance of valuing the Support Model for Independent Living as a promoter of an autonomous life, valuing those who can best benefit from it.

The closure was carried out by Inês Amaro, Director of the Department of Social Development of the ISS, I.P. who stressed that the fact that the social response SAVI is new, implies that one has to tread a path, in which collaboration and mutual aid will be essential.
