1st CAVI Meeting in the Territories – Central Region

The National Coordinating Entity of the Support Model for Independent Living (MAVI), in a process of building a closer relationship with the implemented CAVI, began the first working meetings, where in addition to a space for the presentation of each entity, a collaborative environment was promoted for the sharing of experiences, challenges and good practices, taking into account the consolidation of MAVI as an instrument of autonomy and independence, when oriented to the people who can best enjoy the support in personal assistance.
On the day On 27 February, the ‘I CAVI Meeting in the territories – Central Region’ took place. in the Coimbra District Social Security Centre, with the presence of the National Coordinating Entity of MAVI, the Coimbra, Guarda, Aveiro and Viseu District Social Security Centres and all CAVI of these regions: APC Coimbra, AFSD – Cavalo Azul, APPACDM da Figueira da Foz, ADM Estrela, APSCD – Fornos de Algodres, CERCIEspinho APC Viseu and ACAPO – Centro.
At the opening of the event, the President of the Board of Directors of the INR, I.P. and the National Coordinating Entity of MAVI thanked everyone for their presence and invited reflection on how the Support Model for Independent Living (MAVI), as a public policy that promotes autonomy, could be optimized in its implementation.
The Coordinator of the Multidisciplinary Team, Fernanda Sousa and Vanda Santos, representing Irene Martins, presented the information by district, in order to stimulate reflection among all participants. New monitoring indicators were presented and CAVIs were consulted on a proposal for technical guidance.
The closure was carried out by Inês Amaro, Director of the Social Development Department of the ISS, I.P. who stressed the importance of MAVI, as a public policy and social response, as it represents that the Portuguese State has started to include independent living in social support measures.
On March 11th, the 1st CAVI Meeting will be held in the territories, in the Alentejo Region.
