Dia Mundial das Pessoas Surdas - 29 de setembro
Updated: 28/09/2019
The World Day of the Deaf, on September 29, 2019, aims to remember the struggles of the community of these people over time, such as the fight for the recognition of sign languages, throughout the world.and for deaf people to be recognised for their rights to participation and inclusion through information and communication accessibility.
World Day of the DeafIt takes place every year on the last Sunday of September.
This event was chosen because of the fateful Congress of Milan, held in 1880, in which a law was created that prohibited sign language in the education of the deaf. This eventually created a cultural isolation and, consequently, the denial of the culture and identity of the deaf community.
