World Voice Day – 16 April

On April 16, the World Voice Day with the aim of promoting the health of the vocal apparatus and preventing diseases of the larynx.
No World Voice Day, hospital centres and associations promote free screening and alert the population to voice care, preventing possible voice problems through early diagnosis.
This date was first celebrated in 2003.
Take care of your voice:
Drink water frequently – eight glasses a day – at room temperature;
Reduce the intake of alcoholic beverages, coffee, tea and carbonated beverages;
Do not smoke and avoid frequenting environments with smoke;
Avoid environments with dust, strong smells and air conditioning;
Speak slowly and take frequent breathing breaks, articulating words well;
Do not speak too loudly or for prolonged periods, especially in noisy environments.
Do not whisper – the effort to whisper is greater than when speaking normally;
Having a healthy lifestyle: balanced diet, sleep well and play sports.
Warning signs to be taken into account:
Changes in voice;
frequent coughing;
Changes in the timbre of the voice or difficulty placing the voice;
Grabbing or hoarseness often.
Pay attention to your voice and identify possible warning signs. Voice changes can be a sign of diseases such as papilloma, laryngeal cancer, vocal cord paralysis, chronic laryngitis, among others.
