O World Blood Donor Day It is celebrated annually on 14 June and under the aegis of the World Health Organization.

The slogan for 2021 is "Donate blood so the world can keep pulsing". Italy is the European host country for this day.

The need for blood supplies for both treatments and urgent interventions is a reality. Blood is vital in all types of emergencies: natural disasters, accidents, armed conflicts, among many others.

Blood donation can be made if you are between 18 and 65 years old, weigh more than 50 kilograms, enjoy good health and have healthy lifestyle habits. Persons with disabilities who meet these requirements will also be able to contribute to this cause. Nothing stops them.

A blood donation can help save up to 3 lives and takes on average only 30 minutes.

The right to health is a universal, alienable right and is also enshrined in Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. As early as the beginning of Article 25, it is stated that “States Parties shall take all appropriate measures to ensure access to gender-sensitive health services for persons with disabilities”.
