Publication of the National Strategy for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2025
Updated : 31/08/2021
The National Strategy for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2025 reflects the need to deepen the work already carried out and to continue to develop a set of policies that constitute instruments of collective social intelligence, able to counter disadvantages and limitations, and to develop cycles of opportunities for action, inclusion and improvement of the quality of life, are the main objectives assumed by the XXII Constitutional Government.
Thus, in order to consolidate the progress achieved so far, also considering the work that has been developed by the National Institute for Rehabilitation, I.P., was published today the Resolution of the Council of Ministers No 119/2021 approving the National Strategy for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities for the period 2021-2025 (ENIPD 2021-2025), always with a view to strengthening the commitment to inclusion and development.
This strategy reaffirms the general principles of United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, ratified by Portugal in 2009, as well as looking to the future of government action, in line with the objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The ENIPD 2021-2025 is structured in eight strategic axes, which are assumed to be the headline targets by 2025 [Accessible Version | XLSX | 91.8 KB | 1 page(s)].
For its implementation, the general and specific objectives were defined, the concrete measures to be developed, the analytical indicators, the entities responsible and involved, as well as the targets to be achieved.
The inclusion of persons with disabilities is a strategic objective for the valorisation of all citizens. Only a society that includes everyone without exception can realise its true potential.
