The monthly activity of the Independent Life Support Centers (CAVI), which are part of the pilot project of the Independent Life Support Model (MAVI), is reported to the National Institute for Rehabilitation, I.P., based on the completion of the monitoring grids by each of the institutions.

According to these monitorings, in September 2021, in the 35 projects in operation, 915 people were supported, of which 421 in the Norte Region, 182 in the Centro Region, 112 in the Alentejo Region (715 people supported in the POISE territory), 33 in the Algarve Region and 167 in the Lisbon Region.

Of the 915 people supported, 470 are female and 445 male, people aged between 17 and 93 were supported (Table 4), with an average age of 45.

From the start of the project until 30 September 2021, a total of 1,749,170 (one million seven hundred and forty-nine thousand, one hundred and seventy) hours were provided, of which 1,308,388 (one million, three hundred and eighty-eight) hours were provided in the territory covered by POISE, 153,439 (one hundred and fifty-three thousand, four hundred and thirty-nine) hours in the Algarve Region and 287,344 (two hundred and eighty-seven thousand, three hundred and forty-four) hours in the Lisbon Region.

In September there was an increase in the number of active PIAPs, as well as a further increase in the number of personal assistants providing support compared to the previous month, and a further 13 919 (thirteen thousand, nine hundred and nineteen) hours of personal assistance were provided.

This milestone will certainly be associated with the increase in the number of people targeted, allowed by the extension of projects, whose changes have already started to be implemented in the North, Centre and Alentejo regions, which represent 77.1 percent of the total number of ongoing projects (27 out of 35).
