The Associação de Paralisia Cerebral de Lisboa (APCL), founded in 1960, is a non-profit IPSS whose mission is to support, defend and serve people with cerebral palsy and related neurological situations and their families, aiming at the realization of their life projects and the full exercise of citizenship.

In 2019, by decision of the Board, the Association began the process of recertification of Quality according to the EQUASS framework in order to formalize the implementation of an internal dynamic of continuous improvement of its social responses and services, oriented to the Quality of Life of users and families served by APCL.

Recently, APCL was notified about obtaining the EQUASS Assurance in Social Services certification, which not only reflects the recognition of the work developed, but also reflects the unique contribution of the partners who, directly or indirectly, helped to materialize this dream!

The pursuit of this strategic objective has involved a huge collective effort to restructure and systematise internal processes and procedures in order to meet the requirements of the EQUASS model. However, the CLCA cannot fail to mention that this whole process went hand in hand with the management of the pandemic crisis and all its implications.

In this sense, reinforcing the motto “Use us to make a difference. Joining forces makes us different!", the APCL expresses its gratitude and recognition to all those involved, in particular the Montepio Foundation and the Portuguese Association for Quality, leaving a message of strength and optimism to the organisations that have started or are in the process of starting their certification processes.
