The monthly activity of the Independent Life Support Centers (CAVI), which are part of the pilot project of the Independent Life Support Model (MAVI), is reported to the National Institute for Rehabilitation, I.P., based on the completion of the monitoring grids by each of the institutions.

According to these monitorings, in March 2022, in the 35 projects in operation, 995 people were supported, of which 435 in the Norte Region, 200 in the Centro Region, 129 in the Alentejo Region (764 people supported in the POISE territory), 40 in the Algarve Region and 191 in the Lisbon Region.

Of the 995 people supported, 524 are female and 471 are male, people aged 17-92 have been supported, with an average age of 46.

From the start of the project until 31 March 2022, a total of 2,228,093 (two million, two hundred and twenty-eight thousand, ninety-three) hours were provided, of which 1,662,622 (one million, six hundred and sixty-two thousand, six hundred and twenty-two) hours were provided in the territory covered by the POISE, 184,654 (one hundred and eighty-four thousand, six hundred and fifty-four) hours in the Algarve Region and 380,817 (three hundred and eighty thousand, eight hundred and seventeen) hours in the Lisbon Region.

In March there was an increase in the number of active PIAPs and a decrease in the number of new PIAPs and the number of suspended PIAPs. The number of personal assistants under contract with CAVI as well as the number of personal assistants providing personal assistance increased compared to the previous month.

Since the changes allowed by the country-wide extension of the project began to be implemented, the number of active PIAPs has been increasing every month, with March 2022 being the seventh consecutive month in which this happened and in which the number of PIAPs, which had been defined by the entities applying, was exceeded.
