Updated : 28/07/2022
The monthly activity of the Independent Life Support Centers (CAVI), which are part of the pilot project of the Independent Life Support Model (MAVI), is reported to the National Institute for Rehabilitation, I.P., based on the completion of the monitoring grids by each of the institutions.
According to these monitorings, in June 2022, in the 35 projects in operation, 1023 people were supported, of which 455 in the Norte Region, 198 in the Centro Region, 131 in the Alentejo Region (784 people supported in the POISE territory), 39 in the Algarve Region and 200 in the Lisbon Region.
Of the 1023 people supported, 531 are female and 492 are male, and people aged 18-92 were supported, with an average age of 47.
From the start of the project until 30 June 2022, a total of 2,475,009 (two million, four hundred and seventy-five thousand and nine) hours were provided, of which 1,839,595 (one million, eight hundred and thirty-nine thousand, five hundred and ninety-five) hours were provided in the territory covered by POISE, 199,601 (one hundred and ninety-nine thousand, six hundred and one) hours in the Algarve Region and 435,813 (four hundred and thirty-five thousand, eight hundred and thirteen) hours in the Lisbon Region.
In June there was an increase in the number of active PIAPs, and the number of personal assistants providing support slightly decreased. However, the number of new and suspended PIAPs decreased compared to May. There was a decrease in the average hours of assistance provided in all regions of the country.
Since the changes allowed by the country-wide extension of the project started to be implemented, the number of active PIAPs has been increasing every month, with June 2022 being the tenth consecutive month that this has happened.
