MAVI MONTHLY REPORT – January 2023

The monthly activity of the Independent Life Support Centers (CAVI), which are part of the pilot project of the Independent Life Support Model (MAVI), is reported to the National Institute for Rehabilitation, I.P., based on the completion of the monitoring grids by each of the institutions.
According to these monitorings, in January 2023, in the 35 projects in operation, 1046 people were supported, of which 470 in the North Region, 202 in the Centre Region, 133 in the Alentejo Region (805 people supported in the POISE territory), 40 in the Algarve Region and 201 in the Lisbon Region.
Of the 1046 people supported, 554 are female and 492 are male, people aged 18-93 have been supported, with an average age of 47.
From the start of the project until 31 January 2023, a total of 3,055,334 (three million, fifty-five thousand, three hundred and thirty-four) hours were provided, of which 2,257,241 (two million, two hundred and fifty-seven thousand, two hundred and forty-one) hours were provided in the territory covered by POISE, 240,223 (two hundred and forty thousand, two hundred and twenty-three) hours in the Algarve Region and 557,870 (fifty-fifty-seven thousand, eight hundred and seventy) hours in the Lisbon Region.
In sum, during January 2023, the number of active PIAPs increased, as did the number of employed and in-service personal assistants. The number of contract and non-employment personal assistants has decreased, i.e. almost all contract personal assistants are providing support.
