MAVI Monthly Report - February 2023

The monthly activity of the Independent Life Support Centers (CAVI), which are part of the pilot project of the Independent Life Support Model (MAVI), is reported to the National Institute for Rehabilitation, I.P., based on the completion of the monitoring grids by each of the institutions.
According to these monitorings, in February 2023, in the 35 projects in operation, 1039 people were supported, of which 468 in the North Region, 199 in the Centre Region, 135 in the Alentejo Region (802 supported in these 3 regions, of which 763 under POISE and 39 under ISS) 40 in the Algarve Region and 197 in the Lisbon Region (Table 2).
Of the 1039 people supported, 551 are female and 488 are male, and people aged between 18 and 93 were supported, with an average age of 47.
From the start of the project until 28 February 2023, a total of 3 607 628 (three million, six hundred and seven thousand, six hundred and twenty-eight) hours were provided, of which 1 721 290 (one million, seven hundred and twenty-one thousand, two hundred and ninety) in the North Region, 598 592 (five hundred and ninety-eight thousand, five hundred and ninety-two) in the Centre Region, 465 816 (four hundred and sixty-five thousand, eight hundred and sixteen) in the Alentejo Region, 2 594.108 (two million, five hundred and ninety-four thousand, one hundred and eight) hours were provided under POISE, and 191.590 (one hundred and ninety-five thousand, five hundred and ninety-nine) in the Lisbon Region.
In sum, during the month of February 2023, the number of active PIAPs decreased as well as the number of employed and in-service personal assistants. The number of contract and non-contract personal assistants has increased. The number of suspended, new and terminated PIAPs decreased compared to the figures presented in the previous month.
