The monthly activity of the Independent Life Support Centers (CAVI), which are part of the pilot project of the Independent Life Support Model (MAVI), is reported to the National Institute for Rehabilitation, I.P., based on the completion of the monitoring grids by each of the institutions.

According to these monitorings, in March 2023, in the 35 projects in operation, 1048 people were supported, of which 468 in the North Region, 204 in the Centre Region, 136 in the Alentejo Region (808 supported in these 3 regions, of which 771 under POISE and 37 under ISS) 41 in the Algarve Region and 199 in the Lisbon Region.

Of the 1048 people supported, 563 are female and 485 male, people aged 18-93 were supported, with an average age of 47.

From the start of the project until 30 March 2023, a total of 3 706 300 (three million, seven hundred and six thousand and three hundred) hours were provided, of which 1 760 510 (one million, seven hundred and sixty thousand, five hundred and ten) in the North Region, 616 746 (six hundred and sixteen thousand, seven hundred and forty-six) in the Centre Region, 479 710 (four hundred and seventy-nine thousand, seven hundred and ten) in the Alentejo Region, (2 660 289 (two million, six hundred and sixty thousand, two hundred and eighty-nine) hours were provided under POISE, and 196 677 (one hundred and ninety-six thousand, six hundred and seventy-seven) under the ISS), 252.817 (two hundred and fifty-two thousand, eight hundred and seventeen) hours in the Algarve Region and 596 516 (fifty-nine thousand and seventy-six hundred and five hundred and five hundred and seventy-sixteen) hours in the Lisbon Region.

In sum, during March 2023 the number of active PIAPs increased, as did the number of employed and in-service personal assistants. The number of contract and non-contract personal assistants has increased. The number of suspended, new and terminated PIAPs has increased compared to the figures presented in the previous month.
