The monthly activity of the Independent Life Support Centers (CAVI), which are part of the pilot project of the Independent Life Support Model (MAVI), is reported to the National Institute for Rehabilitation, I.P., based on the completion of the monitoring grids by each of the institutions.

According to these monitorings, in July 2023, out of the 35 projects in operation, 1005 people were supported, of which 880 were funded by the ISS and 125 by POR LISBON.

From the start of the project until 30 August 2023, a total of 3,652,085 (three million, six hundred and fifty-two thousand, eighty-five) hours were provided, of which 219,488 (two hundred and nineteen thousand, four hundred and eighty-eight) under the ISS and 670,871 (six hundred and seventy thousand, eighty-seventy-one) under the POR LISBON, accumulated to 2,761,726 (two million, seven hundred and sixty-one thousand, seven hundred and twenty-six) hours of personal assistance provided under the ESF by 30 June 2023.

In sum, during the month of August 2023, the number of active PIAPs decreased, as did the number of new and completed PIAPs. The number of suspended PIAPs has doubled compared to the previous month. The number of personal assistants on contract has increased, but the number of personal assistants providing support has decreased. The decrease in the number of active PIAPs and in the number of personal assistants in office can be attributed to the fact that August is one of the most chosen months for taking holidays.
