The National Institute for Rehabilitation, I.P. (INR, I.P.), in fulfilling its mission of promoting the rights of people with disabilities and boosting research and cooperation in the field of inclusion, has distinguished, since 1995, relevant academic works through the award of the Prize for Social Sciences and Humanities for Inclusion.

This award aims to recognise and value academic and scientific work that promotes the inclusion of persons with disabilities, aligning with the principles of anti-discrimination, promoting equal opportunities and citizenship, removing barriers to civic participation and realising the rights set out in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Persons who, regardless of nationality, have developed their work in Portuguese higher education institutions, or in foreign institutions with academic links to universities or polytechnics based in Portugal, may apply for the Prize. Portuguese and Portuguese who have carried out their work in foreign institutions can also apply.

Applications can be submitted in two categories:

Category A: Master's dissertations and doctoral theses;

Category B: Scientific projects developed under the Research & Development (R&D) system.

The winning work will receive a prize of €5,000 and two honorable mentions per category.
