Awards

The National Institute for Rehabilitation institutes and launches annually, in its mission areas, a set of awards that aim to inspire civil society to promote the participation rights of people with disabilities.
The awards focus on cross-cutting areas of life such as education, research, accessibility, technological and other innovation, and favoured audiences such as children and young people, students and teachers, schools and town halls.
To reward research activities that enhance the participation and quality of life of people with disabilities, to disseminate advances in knowledge, to sensitize society to the recognition and importance of an inclusive citizenship are the objectives of these initiatives.
School Alert Competition Award!
It encourages children and young people to identify and remove physical, social and communication barriers in school and in the community, mobilising them to defend equal opportunities and rights.
It is addressed to primary and secondary school students who present a school work, under the pedagogical guidance of teachers, with proposals to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities.
Prize for Social Sciences and Humanities
It encourages the production of knowledge about disability through academic work carried out in the area of Social Sciences and Humanities.
The Prize for the Social Sciences awards a 1st prize with a monetary value of 5,000 euros and design pieces sponsored by the CEFPI Vocational Training Centre.
It is addressed to students of higher education, of master's degree or doctorate, public and private, who present work on discrimination on the grounds of disability, promotion of equal opportunities and citizenship of people with disabilities.
Most Accessible Beach Award
Encourages the development of good practices and innovative projects on accessible beaches, with the aim of improving the quality of enjoyment that is provided to people with disabilities, both in terms of facilities and equipment, as well as activities and support services.
It is addressed to the Municipalities with bathing areas classified by the Program “Accessible Beach – Beach for All!” and other entities managing/concessionaires of these beaches.
Award for Technological Innovation Engineer Jaime Filipe
It aims to stimulate research, invention and development of equipment, instruments, utensils, technologies and methodologies that facilitate, optimize and prolong the physical, cognitive and social capacities and that guarantee a higher quality of life for people with disabilities.
The Technological Innovation Award "Eng.o Jaime Filipe", awards a 1st prize with a monetary value of 10,000 euros. It also awards trophies of excellence sponsored by the CEARTE Vocational Training Centre.
Individuals or legal entities, researchers, master's, doctoral or other students, in the areas of technology and design, including information and communication technologies, distribution of services, design, accessibility and others, may apply.
Applications for innovative projects contributing to the promotion of functionality and social participation of persons with disabilities are eligible.
Poster Award 3 December
Challenge creatives, students, teachers, designers and others to graphically create posters representing the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Individuals or legal entities whose work aims to raise awareness of the non-discrimination of persons with disabilities may apply.
The prize money of 3000 euros, in equal parts by INR, I.P. and El Corte Inglés, Grandes Armazéns, S.A., is awarded to the graphic work that best represents the message underlying the commemoration of the rights of people with disabilities.
Sports + Accessible Award
The Sports + Accessible Award recognises projects that promote the development of sport and physical activity for people with disabilities with a view to their social inclusion.
The winning project, from the 1st edition of this Prize, will receive a prize of 7,000 euros, awarded by the National Institute for Rehabilitation, I.P. (INR, I.P.), the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth, (IPDJ, I.P.) and Decathlon Portugal. You will also receive a non-monetary prize, in sports equipment, in the amount of 500,00 euros to be awarded by the partner Decathlon Portugal.
