Award of the INR Research and Development Awards 2021

On 3 December 2021, as part of the celebrations for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Research and Development Awards of the National Institute for Rehabilitation, I.P. (INR, I.P.) were presented, namely ‘Letter 3 December’, ‘Social and Human Sciences’ and ‘Engenheiro Jaime Filipe’. These awards aim to contribute to raising awareness about the rights of people with disabilities, promoting knowledge and technological innovation to improve their quality of life.

In the poster competition of 3 December, the 1st Prize of 1,500 euros awarded by El Corte Inglés, Grandes Armazéns, S.A., and 1,500 euros by INR, I.P., was awarded to Grafe Publicidade, Lda, with the work “Difference has many forms, Equality is Universal”. The 1st honorable mention was attributed to Beatriz Costa, with the work “Life that invites us”, and the 2nd honorable mention to Cerci Lisboa, with the work “Normal is Being Different!!!”. Both the winner and the honorable mentions received pieces of art from CENCAL, Centre for Vocational Training in the Ceramics Sector. In the Social Sciences and Humanities Prize, the 1st Prize, worth 5,000 euros, awarded by the INR, I.P., was awarded to Luís Vicente, with the master's project “Social Inclusion: Assessment of Accessibility in Social Equipment. A Case Study”. The first honorable mention was given to Maria Benedita Lima, with the doctoral thesis “Reaprender a Viver - Trajectories, learnings and identities of adults with acquired disabilities” and the second honorable mention was given to Maria João Figueiredo with the master's dissertation “A Verdadeira Limitação”: A Study on the (Re)employment of People with Motor Disabilities”. Both the winner and the honorable mentions received pieces of art from CEFPI - Centre for Integrated Vocational Education and Training. In the Engineer Jaime Filipe Technological Innovation Award, the 1st Prize of 5,000 euros awarded by the “The Musketeers” Group and 5,000 euros by the INR, I.P., was awarded to Roberto Vaz with the project “I AM Visiting: Interactive, Accessible and Multisensory Museum Visits". The first honourable mention was made by Ingeniarius, Lda with the project “SMILE4Rehab” and the second honourable mention was made by the SPMS – Shared Services of the Ministry of Health with the project “SNS 24 – Portuguese Sign Language”. Both the winner and the honorable mentions received pieces of art from CEARTE - Professional Training Centre for Crafts and Heritage.
